1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup milk
1/2 stick butter
1 quart canned peaches - drained (apples, cherries, blackberries, blueberries, and pineapple chunks work too)
Mix first three ingredients in a bowl. Melt the butter in a 2 qt oven-proof dish. Add the fruit and distribute evenly. Gently pour batter over the fruit and melted butter.
Bake about an hour in a 350° F oven.
