    'Wisteria Tree'

Several years ago I completely eradicated an aborted attempt to train a 'Wisteria Tree' ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/cheneworth/2708636840/ ) like Mom's on the front lawn as it had quickly overtaken the surrounding trees. I planted a small start on the back fence at the edge of the woods and forgot about it . . . until a few minutes ago as I came up the driveway and wondered why the maple tree in the woods had lavender blossoms about fifteen feet above the ground.

    Wildflowers in the Woods

I photographed these yesterday but only had the cell phone cam with me so I headed back to the woods today. I have no idea what these are but they don't care. They have found a little patch of soil on these big rocks and are happily blooming where my brother and I had our pretend fortress back in the 1950s.

When I examined this photo closely I wondered about the two dark lines just above the blossom. I had been scanning prints lately and the first thing that came to mind was a dog hair from Gino on the flatbed. But that doesn't happen to images fresh out of the digital camera. Dummy me, it's a pair of antennae.

About five years ago I set out two or three plants on this difficult to mow slope. Now they are thriving and there is no need to mow here. They bloom the most in Spring but there are a few scattered blossoms year round.
