Mike Lockhart (1975)
Later in the day, Mikee tried piloting the canoe for the first time in a small creek that enters this lake. He crashed into one bank, then the other. I 'took the helm' and, within fifty feet, accidentally bounced his head off an overhanging hornet's nest.
He fled the scene into a cow pasture with hornets following. I slipped into the two-foot-deep water, hanging onto my canoe (and camera). He was stung a half dozen times. All I got was verbal abuse.
I'm still sorry, Mikee.
